Rosalee Pauley Adkins, 70, of Chesapeake, left her earthly home on Jan. 2, 2022 to join the angels awaiting her in Heaven.
She was born June 4, 1951 in Montgomery, daughter of the late Dennie and Jeanetta Stanley Pauley. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Dennie, William and Ted Pauley; sister, Patsy Hulbert; and in-laws, Harry and Louise Adkins.
Rosalee is survived by husband, Darrell L. Adkins; daughters, Candy Morris and April Adkins Abbott; son, Darrell (Noel) Adkins Jr.; goddaughter, Lisa Daniels; grandchildren, Corey (Kristen) Adkins, Whitney (J.D.) Thompson, Brandi Cordle, Cassidy Armstrong, Jena Cordle, Seth Abbott, Austin Jarrell and Justin Adkins; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kameron and the soon to be born Baby Boy Thompson, Josiah Cordle and Hendrix Armstrong; sisters, Dorothy (Bert) Edwards and Janie March; and many nieces, nephews and cousins who love and will miss her greatly.

A celebration of her life was held Jan. 6 at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet. Per her wishes, she will be cremated after the service.
Donald was a firm believer in his Christian faith and loved his wife of 19 years, Azell Balser. He so loved his nieces, nephews, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 31 with public viewing one hour before service at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, Cedar Grove, with Pastor Tony Rucker officiating. Entombment followed the service at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
James E. (Jimmy, J.B.) Banks, 86, of Powellton, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 2, 2022, after a short illness. He was a loving husband and devoted family man. His motto was “Walk A Mile in My Shoes.”
He was retired from Walker Service Station, Marathon Coal Bit Industries, and was a custodian for Powellton United Methodist Church of which he was a member.

Surviving him his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Lou Miles Banks; children, Reva (Mark) of Sod and James Ray of Hopewell, Virginia; stepchildren, Phil Miles of Red House, Patricia (Tim) Kinkead of Bristol, Virginia and David (Sharon) of Hurricane. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews as well as a sister, Shirley Houser of Jacksonville, Florida.
Per his wishes a memorial service was held on Jan. 15 at the Powellton United Methodist Church, Powellton, with Pastor Joe Darlington officiating.
He attended Gauley Bridge High School where he enjoyed all four seasons of varsity football. He left his home and school to enlist in the military. He served his country with love and honor, and was extremely proud to be a United States Marine. He received an honorable discharge after being awarded with the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

He was known for his quick wit and kind heart and would help anyone in need at the drop of a hat. He also enjoyed going to rodeos and for drives to “look around.”
Fred was also a member of the Mount Hope Wesleyan Church for many years, where he held many positions. He also attended Lansing Baptist Church, where his dear friend is pastor.

Born July 1, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Wandew Kincaid and Vida Radford and the granddaughter of the Cecil and Maudie Kincaid and Herbert and Merle Settle.
Also preceding Mary in death were her son, Nathan Clement; brothers, William Kincaid II and Adam Kincaid; sister, Connie Comer; two nephews, Clay Kincaid and David Shawn Daniels; and a niece, Lorie Settle.
Survivors include her husband, William Clement of Page; son, William Clement Jr.; brothers, Johnny Settle of Wriston and Edmond Kincaid of Oak Hill; two sisters, Vonda Nichols of Page and Donna Dickerson of Fayetteville; four grandchildren including Mason and Maddy Clement, whom she also adopted, and Lexie and Skyler Clement, all of Page. Buddy had a zest for life that was contagious. He was always willing to go the extra mile to help someone in need. He had a vast knowledge of many subjects and was constantly trying to learn something new. He will mostly be remembered for his compassion and willingness to listen and give sound advice. Many hearts are heavy at his passing, but we know he is at peace and in the arms of Jesus.
Services were held at Ansted Baptist Church on Jan. 25, with Rev. Jack Eades officiating. Burial followed in Restlawn Cemetery in the Ansted area.

She was born in Charlton Heights to the late Stanley “Tom” Emiline and Snookie Holmes Emiline Hess. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mike and Nina Emiline and Bill and Myrtle Holmes. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Gene Hess.
Lou Ann was a graduate of Valley High School and West Virginia Tech. She was a registered nurse and worked in Florida for several years before returning to West Virginia.
She is survived by her loving mother, Snookie Emiline Hess, and her best friend, her dog Leo, and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Glendon Wright; daughter, Goldie Ann Wright; son, Gary Fizer; grandson, Glen Pennington; and sister, Phyllis Chester.
